Re: Icon for sh-script

Depending on your actual need, there's also https://maedevu.maemo.org/pkgweb/beowulf/main/binary-armhf/desktop-cmd-exec.html, which gives you a widget that can run and display the output of your...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

I feel exactly the same. I also have Droid 4 and I am already daily-driving it, with my work SIM - but there's just something about the N900 that makes it stand out regardless :)

I can assure you...

Re: How many of you still use N900 as main phone?

You're assuming OP is impressed by thinner phones, but that is evidently not the case. In fact they specifically said they 'miss the size of the N900.' :p

Re: Tow-Boot and Leste

I think tow-boot is mostly useful for ARM64 (where there's the potential for UEFI goodies)
Beyond that, it sounds like a modern, bloated version of u-boot+bootmenu that N900 already has....

Re: Installing postmarketOS LXQt on N900

then, I became the new maintainer of the N900 in pmos (https://postmarketos.org/blog/2022/01/17/v21.12.1-release/), so it's still a pmos 'community' category device :-)

Re: How many of you still use N900 as main phone?

Sadly it's no longer may main phone since mid-May, because the modem broke. However, I still carry it with me everywhere - all my media is on it (after 10 years of operation) :-)

Re: NITdroid on N900 on eMMC VIA U-Boot

the general consensus was basically that you're better off installing an alternative OS on SD card as opposed to internal eMMC, since eMMC is known to wear out over time.

Any reason why SD card...

Re: 2FA and N900/linux

We already showed that 2FA works just fine on N900, so this reason can't be the main one :-)

Yes, STK isn't supported on N900, and in many ways, it might be a good thing.

I think that OTP...

Re: 2FA and N900/linux

A lot of 'new' tech is of arguable value, but I think 2FA is really worth it to enable on any service where it's supported

Re: 2FA and N900/linux

Yes, this one works very well. I've been using it on my N900 for years, and even ported it to Maemo Leste.

It doesn't support QR codes, and requires conversion of the code/secret according to...

Re: Garage and autobuilder code

Yeah, Mobian is a really nice project. In some ways (some won't agree with me) ... I feel it's a spiritual successor to Maemo Fremantle (debian base, gtk)

You did not specify which particular...

Re: Garage and autobuilder code

I can almost bet none of these projects will want to work with anything like midgard. They use Gitlab CI, etc., and Maemo Leste uses Jenkins.

Will not happen, I think. If you want Hildon, then...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

if the device has working bluetooth in mainline (e.g. Motorola Droid 4 and Pinephone), then BT mice will work.

IOW, the issue is not Leste-related, but hw-related

@DennisHeine are you still around? Mind sharing this python phone perhaps?

I am also interested in Debian on the N900, in addition to Leste

@Android_808 - would be interesting to know how this panned out in the end, and maybe even sharing some (old?) code :)

Re: Move NeoFremantle to OLD & upgrade Leste

For all those 3 devices, Maemo Leste provides the best support to date. Phone calls not working yet though - but don't work for them on postmarketOS either.

IOW, it isn't that Leste is inferior in...

Re: Move NeoFremantle to OLD & upgrade Leste

postmarketOS is very far from what Maemo was (and is), so I personally am not sure there is a big need to represent it. I have nothing against it (and actually continue to make some contributions to...
