Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

I think the main question is who the security system is trying to protect: the owner of the device, or 3rd parties like the copyright mafia.

I wrote my take on the Maemo and MeeGo saga in light of Jolla in: bergie.iki.fi/blog/meego-diaspora/

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

I think some of my earlier points on MeeGo community infra (http://bergie.iki.fi/blog/maemo-s_community_involvement_infrastructure_is_what_meego_needs/) would still apply here.

Re: Shuttleworth: Ubuntu is heading to phones and tablets

Quite a lot of the new GNOME and KDE stuff is striving for touch-friendliness. So at some point "regular Linux apps" might work OK on a mobile device.

Re: N9 [Shipping]: It's finally here [for some]!

Kauppalehti, in Finnish (http://www.kauppalehti.fi/5/i/talous/uutiset/etusivu/uutinen.jsp?oid=20111097309): N9 is set to be one of Nokia's best sellers ... we expect the phone to rise to top 3 in the...

You might find Emscripten (https://github.com/kripken/emscripten/wiki) interesting: it compiles normal C and C++ code to JavaScript and adds a Posix-compliant wrapper around it. With it you can...

Re: Intel Plans to Merge Meego System With Limo, FT Deutschland Says

JavaScript and HTML5 are actually not that bad to work with, these days. But shame that this will certainly mean more delays before we see any reasonably open devices.

It would be a lot easier if these requests were handled via email to our support address, not via TMO private messages or Google Plus. Can you do this?

Re: Do we have a Nokia Internet Tablet in waiting? Tabco

I have the TouchPad. webOS is indeed very cool, but the hardware is not very convincing... slow, heavy and slightly worse battery life than with an iPad. So they're basically shipping last year's...

Unfortunately these days it isn't just about the platform itself, but the ecosystem around it. This doesn't only mean availability of apps, but also things like browser detection all around the web....

Re: A significant day in community governance?

Yep, as I wrote on FMC, this will give us as a community more freedom on how to run the Apps service on long term.

But obviously the timing was still frustrating as everything was pretty much...

Re: [Council] Council_Update-July_2011

Totally unrelated to the conversation, but I'd love to have a BitCoin "wallet" with some nice device-to-device connectivity on both N900 and the Harmattan devices.

Re: [Council] Council_Update-July_2011

I obviously can't talk about contract details, but our aim is that the community can do a graceful transition in late 2012, if it wishes to do so. And if that happens, we'll do our best to help. All...

Thanks for reporting this! In general, if something on the maemo.org infra is down (or just misbehaving), it would be best to file a bug (https://bugs.maemo.org/enter_bug.cgi?classification=Websites)...
