Nothing magical, I have Pidgin with the latest facebook plugin install on a headless Pi server.
When I want to chat via facebook I login to the Pi using ssh -X and then view pidgin on the tablet....

Why do you need to use an ancient version of Ubuntu? I'm sure the last time I used scratchbox it was with Debian LXDE, which isn't so ancient. The only problem I had was that it had to run on a 32bit...

Still using mine - in fact I recently bought another one! I have mpd running on a raspberry pi and the tablet works as great frontend for that.
It gets used for messaging on skype and facebook chat,...

Data Cd's are recognized OK, but none of the media players can be coerced into reading...
