Whats the advantage of Threema in comparison with clean XMPP?
It's the same sort of "sucure app" like Whatsapp: closed source and centralized.

CryptMee uses a lot of hacks to provide this...

A new big update is available: 0.5.0.

There are a lot of new features like file encryption, sending pgp encrypted files by email or XMPP.

/user/share/application/defaults.list

which defines default apps for special file formats.

Do you know how to extend this list with a new entry while installing a deb...

It fixes bugs and adds a function to unset the unread flag for messages which were already open in the stock chat ui.

What do you mean? OTR has nothing to do with end point connection, its just encrypted payload over the same connection/protocol.

Its not possible to establish an OTR session with an offline contact. So no, this solution doesn't work.

Do you know XMPP transports?
The problem with such extensions is that someone has to maintain them. Its useless to have a "WhatsApp" transport which do not work because of protocol changes.

Short information about how the file upload will work.

Since XEP-0363 needs protocol changes, Im not able to implement it directly. But if you have your own webspace, CryptMee can upload files...
