Re: Repurposing N900 after retiring it?

I think the main issue about using the n900 as webserver or any kind of server is the fact it can only connect to the network through wifi, instead of ethernet

Is there any way to get wifi injection drivers working on new power kernel (52)?

The ones that worked for 51 aren't loading, so I guess they'd need to be recompiled for 52.

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out, it's in /opt/packet-injection-modules/2.6.28.10-power52/

Re: Thinking of grabbing an N900, anything I should look out for?

I'd definitely try to get a new one above refurbished/used, as jd4200 said above. I've bought 2 used n900's and haven't encountered issues, though, just trust the seller.

Re: How many of you still use N900 as main phone?

I still use the n900 daily as main phone, and don't really want to change until it breaks or a better phone comes out.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

You shouldn't need to repartition anything to upgrade from CSSU stable to thumb, you just need to follow the instructions in the first post

Re: Hardware Engineers: Can we replace OMAP 3430 w/ 3630 :)

It wouldn't work, and I think the reason why has been justified many times in this thread already.

And if I could pick ONE upgrade, it would be an usb port that doesn't fall off after a few...

Re: Two bright point on the screen?

Yeah, they never seemed to get worse, just stay there, so whatever is causing it is not doing too much damage

Re: Two bright point on the screen?

I have them. Never overclocked the device either, so I guess it's unrelated to that.

I'd be willing to guess it's from components running hot and ending up burning something in the lcd itself?...

yeah, I wish people would stop and think for a second before making threads like this and getting people all excited for nothing. We've all seen these threads many times already, and so far, none...

Re: Can one break N900 by installing these?

N900 is pretty much impossible to kill. I wiped the rootfs completely by mistake, destroyed any bootable kernel, and had bootmenu all ****ed up, yet i still managed to restore it

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v50 in Extras-Testing

how does your battery even survive for more than 2h at 805mhz? I barely get a day out of my n900 at default clock speed, with smartreflex enabled etc..

Re: [Request for Port] Minetest-c55 a opensource equivalent to Minecraft in C++ and irrlicht

C++ would be a LOT faster than java. Minecraft would have had no chance to run smoothly on N900's hardware, but with C++ there could actually be something playable, so this is a great idea for a port.

Re: 3.5G on N900

3.5G (or any cellular data connections) weren't built for low latency. 200-400ms sounds like a fair expectation for 3 or 3.5G. 4G and LTE or whatever they call it these days *may* have lower latency....

Re: You know what, I wouldn't mind a new model from Nokia running Maemo 5 and CSSU

As long as the new model doesn't have a USB port that falls off and has a better battery i'd buy it, even if it has the same old hardware

Re: What will you want on the N950

one thing I'd want on the N950 is a USB port that doesn't fall off after a few months
