Re: XMPP messaging in Maemo 5

Re. 1, probably the server requires TLSv1.x (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) which AFAIK maemo never supported.

Re. 3, use apt-get. apt came later :)

No idea about 2.

(and sudo gainroot gives you root, so...

If you mean 3.4.0.24 for Jolla1, then I have the one with ext4 (so you can forget about the issues with btrfs).

Re: [PLEASE ALL READ] Maemo eV general assembly

@Maemish,

It's OK. It's just that some things require a form of legal organization, which in this case is a German "Eingetragener Verein" (eV), which has all sorts of rules ;-)

[PLEASE ALL READ] Maemo eV general assembly

Dear TMO members,

The Maemo eV needs to hold a general assembly urgently, in order to at least clarify the situation wrt to the Board -- otherwise we risk a fine of EUR 600 in a couple of weeks.

Re: U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu (updated version 2012.10-rc3-1)

@Macros,

How about patching the u-boot binary to replace "bootmenu.scr" with, say, "bootmenu.xcr", so that it will not find the expected file in your eMMC? :)

It's just one byte, at position...

Re: U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu (updated version 2012.10-rc3-1)

Yes.. you would need to delete the bootmenu.scr in MyDocs (the real one, in the eMMC) so that it can proceed to the "next" one, i.e. your SD card.

So much for the theory :)

Yesterday I could...

Re: U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu (updated version 2012.10-rc3-1)

I think u-boot requires you to then run "u-boot-update-bootmenu", which will actually re-create the bootmenu.scr.

The best option would be to replace maemo's u-boot with a newer one directly on...

Re: Sailfish OS flashing files

I just noted that the flashing files have been updated to 3.4.0.24.
I'm now updating the Jolla via OTA, and supposedly when it fails booting I will have to "fastboot flash boot boot.ext4.img"

I don't think anybody knows. In case you're wondering about the money, please note that AFAIR they were officially considered "donations" and not some sort of advance payment or such.

Re: musl libc + zlib pro-tip

Good to read you again! :)

Why musl? it is just because of the space?
Every time I see something compiled with musl (e.g. alpine linux) there's something not quite right or just plain wrong..

For fastboot you shut down the jolla completely, then hold down volume down and plug USB cable.

Now I have to get up to speed with Jolla/Sailfish again :)

OK, in the end I didn't take with me, but if wasn't necessary. I just looked and lots of WLANs (precisely: 30) have appeared, each with the 3x24-byte files.
