I connect to my universities wifi often.. which is peap+mschapv2. works fine. all you have to remember is for it to work go into advanced settings (of the appropriate network) and put in a manual...

just fyi. if anyone has noticed you can't scroll in some text fields in the browser <textarea> fields (like when editing a wordpress post). i have contact nokia care and they have forwarded the issue...

did you remove any mail accounts? i think you need more than 1 to be able to have favourites (i may be wrong)
as for LED indicator.. i found the file to configure it.. although i've got a rough...

when you install dev mode it installs openssh client and server..
i haven't really used the client side, but i have ssh-ed into my device a few times.
X11 forwarding... not sure.. sorry,...

when i add a calendar entry, it puts it on the day after i've selected (select a day, select add event, the date for the event is the day after i selected... seems odd).

well.. ad-hoc is what joikuspot used (although I'll check n9 app in now for you), and i connected my laptop with that. I would say most wifi devices supported ad hoc.
EDIT: just tried on windows...

You can also install an application called SwipeManager, which allows you to choose what a left/right/down/up swipe does (which screen to go to/close app).

if you take idle stats (mine is around 20-25mA), that means on the 1450mA battery, theoretically you can get 58-73 hours on just idle. So that's basically 3 days. although that battery app doesn't...

they're porting the hildon desktop to meego. I have a feeling too much of maemo is closed to be able to get a full working version on the n9 (ofono, drivers and what not)
