Re: BlackBerry loses almost a billion dollars, blames it on the failed Z10

Not the same. Blackberry is obviously trying to manipulate stock prices because they want to go private. They're very much interested in manipulating the news to make it look much worse than it...

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Maybe because it is intentional, at least in part? Microsoft doesn't want or need a new market segment that is a competitor for Windows+Office. If they can dominate this new market segment like they...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Gargoyle: an advanced interactive fiction player

A recompiled package is needed, unfortunately. :(

Re: Tizen?

That is patently false. There's a metric buttload of Qt software running on Windows, and for most of it you wouldn't even have a clue that it uses Qt.

There are probably more Qt applications...

Re: Tizen?

Honestly, let me tell you something: I don't care one whit what's 'better for mobile purposes'. I care for what's better for me.

And Linux-with-Qt-required is not at all something I want or care...

Re: Tizen?

That depends.

The most annoying and wrong-headed thing about MeeGo is their promotion of Qt as the preferred (and sometimes 'required') native toolkit.

Linux-with-Qt-required isn't Linux, it's...

Re: Tizen?

That is some incredibly r3tarded troll logic you're showing here.

I.e., let me rephrase: "I can't buy good steak at the supermarket anymore, so to spite the damned argibusiness I will from now on...

Here's a quote from the official Intel statement:

Re: Nokia wants new CEO: Report

Yes, it's counterintuitive, but that's been the Microsoft Way since forever.

Remember that Microsoft isn't here to make money. Out of hundreds of Microsoft divisions, only two actually turn a...

Re: Nokia wants new CEO: Report

Yeah, and that option is to be eventually bought by Microsoft, as a future MS Mobile Phone Division, delivering Windows Phone 10.5 'It will definitely work for sure this time around' edition.

Re: Why didn't Nokia just remaake the N900 for 2012?

Ahem, Nokia is doing everything, I mean literally everything, to make sure the N9 fails.

Re: Nokia wants new CEO: Report

gerbick, you're arguing with a marketing shill. Don't bother.

It's painfully obvious the guy just copy-pasted some drivel from some marketing handbook. (I mean, come on! 'Restructured the company,...

And that job was to prepare Nokia to be sold to Microsoft.

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?

People who 'want to get work done' aren't buying tablets.

Tablets are a toy and a ridiculous fad. Which is why the iPad is the only tablet that successfully sells -- it's a beautiful toy gadget...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?

Reverting from MeeGo to Windows is a bad decision. Windows Phone is dead, and Nokia is dead with it.

Microsoft doesn't care -- in two years they will abandon the current incarnation of Windows...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?

Good lord, that is my point.

MeeGo is governed in pretty much exactly the same way that Ubuntu is governed.

Either you can call both open-source, or you can call both closed-source.

Claiming...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?

Again. Let me stress something, for the third time in this thread:

MeeGo is a standard Linux distribution, not at all different from Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian or Mint or what-have-you.

Being a...

Re: Where are all the MeeGo tablets?

Dude, no offence, but you're rambling and not making sense.

Yes, Maemo is a closed-source monstrosity.

Meego, on the other hand, is a very generic, very much run-of-the-mill standard...

Re: MeeGo dying before it ever really had a chance to live?

Intel did have a chipset waiting in the wings, for a couple years now.

It's just that their chipset sucks.

They keep claiming that they're going to release a new version that doesn't suck "any...

Re: MeeGo dying before it ever really had a chance to live?

For all intents and purposes, yes it is.

Look at the specs for 10-inch netbooks, for example. They're all literally the same, except for the coloring of the plastic shell and the logotype on the...

Re: MeeGo dying before it ever really had a chance to live?

The lack of announcements is due to the fact that Intel doesn't yet have a viable CPU for handsets and tablets.

It makes no sense for Intel to release a good OS that can run on their competitor's...

Re: Ari jaaksi: “Symbian was a religion inside Nokia”

Linux runs perfectly well on a 90 Mhz Pentium with 8 megabytes of RAM. (Including X11 and GUI.)

I think running Linux on a system that is more than five times more performant is trivial.

Re: Google buying Motorola - now will MS buy Nokia?

What a ridiculous statement -- WP7 is ARM only.

If Intel buys Nokia (which is not gonna happen, Microsoft's alpha-dog already pissed all over Nokia) the very first thing Intel would do is axing...
