The only things I'd be concerned about is usb port flakiness and whether repositories...

Thanks. I never realised that pressing the dpad centre will bring up the toolbar when in fullscreen mode in tear.
It always kinda annoyed me that if I wanted to go to a new bookmark I'd have to exit...

From the maemo-mapper menu select Maps->Manage Repositories....

On the top drop-down box select one of the one of the satellite options...

Your n800 is running an old version of OS2008 (Chinook) that didn't have the SSU feature which is why you're not seeing any updates.
