You can check the format with file command on the first one. It is either loopback image or tar archive. Did it get stuck on bootscreen before after doing zypper update?

It was disabled in kernel touchscreen driver upstream as it caused a problem with touchscreen stop working until the device is rebooted. You could possibly build a custom kernel with it enabled, but...

Just to clarify, Anbox is possible on both. The possible problem with Anbox is that its Android base will need to be updated to Android 9 if it is desired to use device's OpenGL drivers directly.

It seems we tracked down what happened. SailfishOS devel repository version on OBS got bumped to 3.2.1.20, so nemo:devel:hw:fxtec:t5 got rebuilt against the latest and in this state doing zypper...
