Re: One more reason to purchase neo900
Strongly disagree. Actually, this assertion can easily been reversed :
"Whatever the efforts you put to prevent as*holes to get power, some will fatally succeed and use every weapon/information...

Re: Community driven PR
I'm not an OS developer, so I can only make assumptions.
Generally speaking about phones :
1) Maybe too time-consuming compared to the lifespan of a given phone ?
2) Maybe the number of non-free...

Re: Community driven PR
Two brief ideas since I'm better to give ideas than doing PR by myself ;)
Since neo900 is a expensive niche device, and not "yet another android device", we must target the right audiance :
-...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
It may be expansive but what is the open alternative to Neo900, and how much does it cost ? :p
Even if I still haven't ordered anything, and I may never use my coupon, I'm anyway happy to have...

Re: Neo900 Shop questions
Since, according to the same post, DIY doesn't need to solder anything, I assume the assembly doesn't need any component which is soldered to the main board, so for me it's pretty clear.
However,...

questions regarding Neo900 Shop
I'm happy to say I received my voucher today (correct discount), as well as a link to the neo900 shop. :)
Since buying a Neo900 becomes more concrete, I've a few questions for Neo900UG team :

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
I let you explain openBSD guys why their constant code audit is useless.
And I'm not so definitive about linux's security : if I want a very secured mobile device, I would tend to trust peoples who...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
I would really be happy to be more "active" than "reactive", as endsormeans tries to encourage us, but my skills in kernel developpment and electronics are insufficient to actively help and speed up...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
After having thougth a lot, I arrived to several conclusions :
The "per device" cost is 525€ + shipping
The fixed cost for the whole project (R&D+Loan) is 190k €
The main way to significantly...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
I feel a bit like endsormeans,
When I read the project is made in Europe, I thank something like "Nice ! It will be expensive, but the estimates will not depend too much on change rates".
Thought...

I bought them at first and found them nice. Were a bit sticky but seemed very durable. And their lifetime waranty...

According to Neo900 website :
Let me dream a lot... If every piece of hardware is well documented enough, would it be possible (I mean : more than "theorically" possible) somebody ports...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
Getting a second unit is useful :
- to have a replacement device if needed (1st device lost/broken/etc.)
- to have a R&D device (make some "unsafe" dev without bricking your daily phone, etc.)...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
I second this.
I wouldn't feel safe without having a spare Neo900 (like many of us, I suppose), but I probably will not have enough money to buy two from the start.
That's sad because the "per...

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900
I have to agree, Pandora *is* designed for a (very) long standby.
I own two and I didn't timed them but they didn't empty quickly at all.
the battery is a huge (as wide as the device itself) 4000...

Re: How many of you still use N900 as main phone?
I'm used to wisely choose my phones and keep them until they are far outdated, so I still use my n900 as my main phone.
I had a HTC Universal from 2005 to 2009 and I bought a n900 as soon as it...
