Re: [Announce] GPS Recorder

Is GPS Recorder still being developed?

I would like to see one new feature. This is recording a description or a comment as well as a name for a waypoint. I think the GPX format allows this.

Re: Function keys on N900

Many thanks.

I don't know if it's just me getting old, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find stuff at maemo.org by searching.

Re: N900 GPS - does it work abroad?

The GPS will work anywhere in the world.

The problem is that, by default, the N900 location software looks for an internet connection. Just disable the "Network positioning" option in Settings -...

Applications vs Web Pages

The FIFA World Cup App thread sparked a thought in my head, and I'd like to know what others think.

I was a bit taken aback by the enthusiasm for the proposed app. My feeling was that it would be...

Re: New to Linux - best way to learn and which distro to get?

The ability to interact between computers using tools such as ssh and scp at the command line is incredible. Especially if you ever have to do it over a bad link where remote desktop is painfully...

Re: Accelerometers

Does anyone know anything about the internal workings of the accelerometers used on the N900? My interest is professional - I know quite a lot about seismometers and full-size accelerometers.

I...

Re: Widget Proposals for Maemo 5

I asked for this somewhere else, but maybe it is best as a widget.

I seem to waste a lot of time on my N800 repeatedly going into xterm just to run a single command.

I want a tool that can run...

Re: N900 shipping delayed

I'm with Kathy.

Nokia will ship as soon as they can ship. And there's nothing any of us can do to change that.

Patience, my friends.

Re: Why should I believe Nokia ? Why should I work for Nokia for free ? ... again

I'm worse than that. I want the n900 to become so great and renowned that I can be a smug git about it.

Easy.

1) minigpsd on the Nxxx
Log the GPS location to a file - it will make KML, but I don't know if it does other formats.

2) gpsbabel on the Nxxx or PC
Convert the KML file to a more...

Fixed it.

The /etc/resolv.conf was the problem, so I deleted it.

Re: [Sandbox] Protecting private content when lending device

Given that maemo is a proper multi-user Linux OS, couldn't this be implemented by having more than one user, including a guest user for loan periods?

Re: N900 + Stylus = Pen Tablet for Photoshop?

You can run remote desktop and it'd be just like a tablet. No pressure sensitivity, mind.

Re: N900 as bike computer?

Probably quite easy. But why not go for a retro solution?

Clip playing card to forks so that it makes a nice noise when a spoke hits it.
Use microphone on N900 to pick up noise and software to...

minigpsd claims to do exactly what you want to do.

Re: Voltage input: Is 6V ok?

I don't think you should ever use a solar panel on its own - it should be connected using a voltage regulator or to a battery charger and the device connected to the battery.
