It looks like according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Physical_appearance) the ID pin can be left unconnected. The only use for that would be for USB OTG.. I wonder...

Yes, I understand that feature is available, I just would like to augment the dialer, since using one hand to open the keyboard, type your contact, close the keyboard, and tap "dial" is very awkward....
