The .deb file is generated from the tar.gz file by un-tar'ing it and then run

Maybe a python guru may help you. In C the function to call is MeeGo::QmDisplayState::setBlankingPause(). A simple script that you start in the background might do the job.

Okay so this is related to the file dialog then. I just ran valgrind in scratchbox and indeed got lots of errors at when opening the file dialog.

KMPlayer doesn't do any converting, nor does it copy files.
My guess is that something was downloading Prat+TIO.exe, using /var/tmp/ as temporary location. E.g. media player/tracker still hammering...

In the next version, there will be a 'gstreamer or mplayer' option that first tries gstreamer and if that fails, tries mplayer.
