Re: I knew Meego would fail when...

It's almost 14 months since I made a post here but I was pretty sure Maemo/Meego was doomed with the shambles that was the N900 release. It was pretty clear then that nothing within Nokia had really...

Re: N900 no mic audio

Wow that thread is pretty shocking to me. It looks like Nokia has serious quality control issues across all of its products.

Re: I think that Nokia rushed and released N900 with software that miss many functions

I'm not a business expert but as far as I know Nokia operates on the basis of its products being "for" as many people with money to spend as possible.

Re: I think that Nokia rushed and released N900 with software that miss many functions

Here's a nice idea - how about we consider it reasonable for people to expect a non-half baked product and a timely release for something costing €500+?

Re: Deleted all contacts on my N900, lost my Skype and other IM contact lists from last 6 years

According to this (http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=113198) you can contact Skype and get your contacts restored.

For google talk and MSN they might all still be in your address list.

Re: N900 no mic audio

If only the community knew it could have written a "Check everything on your N900 works" app and had it in extras ready for release :D

Re: When is maemo6 going to be released? will it support N900?

Well firstly you're comparing desktop operating systems with consumer device operating systems. Certainly there's some converging going on but they're different things for different purposes.

Re: Confirmed/CAUTION: N900 Ovi Apps require Corporation + $1M USD Corporate General Liability Insurace

I don't think you understand the point I'm making.

Some here appear to be glad that Ovi doesn't make it easy to sell software for the N900 under the mistaken belief it will keep commercial...

Re: Confirmed/CAUTION: N900 Ovi Apps require Corporation + $1M USD Corporate General Liability Insurace

I guess it depends on how you define "rare". For example there are multiple distributions of Linux that you can pay money for - this is typically for a nice boxed version and support but you're...

Re: Confirmed/CAUTION: N900 Ovi Apps require Corporation + $1M USD Corporate General Liability Insurace

The "reasons" for paying for OSS software are numerous and the point is not that people will always publish the source code for their N900 applications - the point is that source code availability is...

Re: Confirmed/CAUTION: N900 Ovi Apps require Corporation + $1M USD Corporate General Liability Insurace

In the real world developers will just go sell their "dead end" software for Android and Apple devices instead and people will buy those devices to access those applications.

OSS is complimentary...

Re: When is maemo6 going to be released? will it support N900?

That's the problem. Massive changes between versions rarely work out. Think of something like Windows XP to Vista and you get an idea of the pitfalls.

Instead Nokia should be looking at the...

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

You're wasting your time. I was reading through this bug report the other day and spotted a familiar name

Remember: If you have a problem with Nokia...

Re: N900 shipping delayed

I just remembered something I wrote here 5 weeks ago

Nokia' behaviour in this release really was that predictable. They do the same...

Re: N900 shipping delayed

Seems like Amazon UK was pretty on the ball when they took off the preorder and changed the ship date to 29th of November at the start of November. They obviously had a heads up the device wasn't...

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

People are angry/frustrated by Nokia's behaviour. You're angry/frustrated because people aren't prepared to sit quietly and say "Thank you Sir, may I have another?" everytime Nokia issues a...

Re: N900 shipping delayed

To be honest I prefer carriers NOT to pickup the device. I consider carriers to be just a pipe that connects me to the voice and data networks, I want nothing else from them bit they want so much...

Re: N900 shipping delayed

It depends on the product of course but ramping up production to meet demand is non-trivial. In the case of the xbox360 for example initial yields were disastrously low - on the order of 10%. The...

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Re: N900 shipping delayed

They just said it was "shipping" - the only reason we knew it was from the factory was because Peter told us.

Re: Left high-and-dry by Nokia/Ovi store :(

Nokia has the hallmarks of an organisation at war with itself. It's obvious there are different groups trying to pull the company in different directions so what we get from them is a compromise of...

Re: Left high-and-dry by Nokia/Ovi store :(

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Sorry guy but you got caught talking crap. You're pretending all sorts of information was released when it wasn't. Nokia simply said shipping had begun which left everyone to interpret what that...
