I know that...but uboot and powerkernel 47 are currently incompatible. I have uboot now with powerkernel 46 but would like to upgrade without losing uboot.....

Just installed the meego DE (alpha) and installed power-kernel uboot too. No problems and I am frankly amazed at the transitions in this version (no tearing and very fast.....awesome). Way better...

Qualcomm? There is a new powervr driver included in the meego n900 hardware adaption that should solve most 2D problems. There should be no problem with gles 3d drivers also.
