I don't think HW is the problem as my 6 year old laptop
is fine for all usual tasks I need (web browsing, reading
email, office, cd-dvd burning and so on). So i suspect that
when my N900 will be 6...

I think we have to find a way to merge with debian armel repository at least
for the free and not nokia modified stuff (apart from optification) this will ensure us:
1) updates and bug fixes

Yes , i experienced exactly the same issue with the wifi refusing to reconnect
until reboot and this was in the day with worst battery life (about 4 hrs).
There must be some bug in the wifi driver...
