Renkon, using 911 in such way is very bad idea, not only illegal but also you might be endup being the only reason why someone with real emergency didn't get the help really needed on time.

spring loaded clips don't push contacts against each other so as long you insert plug all the way in it will work as well as with the clips.
at the end of the day it is much cheaper to replace...

i used angle grinder, you got to have sturdy hands or get someone to hold it for you while you put the plug to it.
make sure to use safty gear :)

i took sharp knife to all of my usb plugs that i use with n900 and worked in these spring loaded clips, just pushing it down few times with fair amount of force (without going nuts) they are now not...

you got rootsh installed?
sudo gainroot
apt-get -f install
apt-get autoremove
this worked for me every time

gainroot then run apt-get -f install
after that you will see list of things and command to clean it up (apt-get autoremove) run it and it all left overs should be gone now
