Two of my friends got HTC Desire (which is similar to Nexus One) and honestly said - as a N900 user I did not like it.

For me pros are apps, responsibility and integrated compass

1. when viewing photos, you have the option "set as avatar", which as I remember will not allow you to crop the image (bad)

For the charging - that's correct. Use the supplied AC-10e charger. The old nokia chargers give maximum output of only 500mA or even less. Battery has 1350mAh, so it'll take at least 3 hours to fully...
