It might be caused by an out of date copy of the python twitter library. I'll have a look at it over the weekend and try and figure out whats going wrong. I've not used the trends parts of witter...

I don't really use searches so I'm not to sure what the UI is like but I'd like to just make sure that witter doesn't whither away a died as I've prefered it over any of the other clients for maemo.

You need to make sure that you setup the OAuth for witter. When inputing your usename and password make sure that after doing that you click on the OAuth button and follow the steps there....

I bumped into a problem with witter. I'd forgotten to configure OAuth and witter just hung on startup when trying to retrieve my timeline. I've posted a bug report about this.
