Here's a small update. The only fix I could find for my device is reflashing. I first tried to just reflash the kernel with:

sudo ./flasher-3.5 -F <firmware-image> --flash-only=kernel -f -R

Edit: I just realized the LED doesn't work for any application, including the built in chat client. The LED notifications are checked in the control panel, and the device does briefly use the LED...
