It seems the display fails for overlaid images, when one doesn't have the tiles to display, i.e. you zoom too much in for instance, so that no sat images are available.

I use modRana as navigation for car travel, long and short distance. In the beginning while it still had a few serious glitches I hesitated replacing commercial non-free (as in speech, not beer)...

Upgraded to the latest version and this behavior seems to be fixed. Indeed shows the tile unavailable info again...

I've found that though your CUPS package is optified properly and thus no need to symlink the backends dirs as noted in the beginning of the thread, the /opt/usr/share/ppd directory MUST be symlinked...

These are the same problems I'm experiencing often, i.e. the tile loading slows down considerably, and sometimes just gets stuck, i.e. it just says loading...

With this I have a question, that I hadn't had time to investigate further... How does modrana handle updating of already downloaded cached tiles?

I.e. some of the maps don't change so often, but...

I forgot to say: the zoom-in and zoom-out via the loudness key was a BRILLIANT idea, Martin. Operation while driving now is very easy, great improvement.

And I would recommend adding two buttons...

Tomorrow I'm gonna be driving over a 1000km so am anxious to see how modrana does at high speeds now, if it'll be able to update the display etc and not hog memory and CPU... :O)

I'm anxiously waiting for this.

Drove another 1000 km and it was a terrible experience navigation-wise.

When zoomed out to a 4.2km view, it was OK - not perfect, but alright, but zooming in,...

Well, I drove 1200 km today and am almost 100% confident there is a problem with displaying tiles, or there is some associated task that's happening when tiles are retrieved for display.

It fails since there's dirnames with spaces in this dir, if you've downloaded some files, and the busybox `chmod -R' doesn't...
