Go to X terminal and type 'top'
check if there is some process using lot of CPU time (>30%)
Maybe that will give a hint about offending process.

Check same after reboot

You can ask new SIM from the operator, newer may use less voltage providing longer battery life as well

Check command env that should show PATH variable. Are you running program as a root or as a default user? Better not to run as a root.

Yes, it will work with 2100 band in Korea. To my understanding Korean 3G is same as in Europe
