Hmm, PolarCell and Scud Blue are little pricey ~20$ each. Not sure how long it would take them to be shipped to the US.

Yep, I will not record the whole track. Will check the GPS just for navigation purposes. I tested leaving GPS on and recording it, but the phone dies in a matter of hours. Otherwise like you said,...

Did you push an update to the N900 repos?

You wrote here that the newest version is 0.40.3. I have V0.36.6 git:c59ca30 installed here, for some reason app update doesn't show this new version.
