I haven't really measured the time the satellite info is valid but what I have done is download the satellite info indoors (i.e. starting Maps), take the elevator to my car and drive out with Maps...

Similar experiences here, 15 to 30 seconds to get GPS fix with A-GPS. The first version A-GPS was very unstable but with version 0.10-1 it has improved quite a bit.

Yes, and for me anyway it has solved the problem of a long delay in Sat lock issues. My best time is a 14 second lock and my worst has been just under a minute and that has been consistent. Others...

Take a look at the gpsd source code from the repo to see how to parse this file (there'a a fn in there which does exactly that).

Here is a Chinook compile of the sqlite3 amalgamation. You will need to copy it into /usr/bin and make sure it has execute rights (chmod a+x sqlite3).

Mappers poi.db is sqlite3. The error you are getting is because youu are using sqlite2 if you have python2.5 runtime installed datable is worth a try
