One of your contacts is dodgy. Did you fold the end of the foil over the original contacts as per post 25 (https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1523900&postcount=25)? And did you either solder them...

You are right. This is what I want to do in my next try. One strip of copper foil per side, and a wire for the thermistor (centre contact). I hope to improve high-current transient performance.

That is not an issue. PCB traces (and other copper foils stuck to surfaces) are capable of carrying more current than wires of the same cross-section area because the surface they adhere to carries...
