Re: [ANNOUNCE] rtmpdump & get_iplayer

Tried to prep 2.94 for the repos at the weekend. Build is fine but testing raised an issue. Downloading cache works fine but actual programs fails due to a pid metadata issue. A bit of experimenting...

Re: the Fremantle Porting Task Force, or "how to run maemo on Neo900"

The 2 biggest missing pieces of the Neo900 software stack from a Maemo point of view are A.The pulseaudio blobs (pulseaudio-modules-nokia-*) which need to be reverse engineered and cloned (work has...

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

News

Google (officially) ended support for version 2 of the YouTube API on 20/04/2015. However, it still seems to be working, for now. Regardless, I'm currently re-writing cuteTube to use the...

Re: the Fremantle Porting Task Force, or "how to run maemo on Neo900"

There's not the slightest doubt maemo generally will run on Neo900. The question is percentage of feature completeness. E.G. either we get a janus layer between dbus/cmt stuff and the modem, to...

Re: Why not ditch Maemo and work on a new OS?

For me the issue is outdated libraries, plain and simple. It is preventing ports, making others far more difficult and causing me to have to test a number of different work arounds for each package....

Re: Why not ditch Maemo and work on a new OS?

You probably like Debian for its (mostly) well-working package management. And although Maemo uses the same tools, it's a totally different story here. Debian's ease and stability doesn't come with...

Re: Why not ditch Maemo and work on a new OS?

Maemo is outdated to say the least.
We have an ancient kernel (with lots of backports), a glibc from the stone age and lots of other very old stuff.

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

If you have done any training than you will have zero problems. N900 is very "friendly" when it comes to disassembling/reassembling. Particulary for a slider device. Nothing is glued, no hidden...

I for one prefer the UI as it is. You have a plethora of choice if you want 'modern'. Maemo is better than that. It is usable.
