These are all bugs in Qt, and all regrettably have to wait until the PR1.2 release before we'll get the fixes. Doing both is easier (I find) when using the virtual keyboard.

I think I did mine when my battery was 35% full. lol. As long as you know your battery isn't going to die on you during the 1second it takes to flash the kernel, you are fine. Battery full...

Can't say I noticed a problem before updating, but it opens instantly post-update. Scrolling up and down the list is smooth and quick. HTH

apt-get clean
and
apt-get autoremove
autoremove is used to remove packages that were automatically installed to satisfy dependencies for some package and that are no longer needed.
