Ubuntu mobile failure analysis - learnings for SailfishOS/Jolla?

Interesting analysis:

http://www.lieberbiber.de/2017/06/20/my-ubuntu-for-mobile-devices-post-mortem/

Could there be something that Jolla and SailfishOS could learn from Ubuntu failure?

Re: [IGG Live][Slider Keyboard] Keyboard Mod for Moto Z

Good to hear you are still on it!

To save you some time: CE you can award yourself and provide documents only when asked later - and since you don't have high voltage circuitry or sharp corners...

Re: Gemini PDA (the return of the Psion Series 5MX)

The 5MX keyboard is fabulous, it is the best I have ever used in a PDA device. And the power requirements of the thing are something to be envied today, it runs on 2 AA batteries for weeks in normal...

Chris Morris too.

I remember watching The Day Today (a fake news programme) the first time around, and thinking how hilarious the ludicrous excess of the CGI intro / ident bits was.

Watching it...

You have my full support.
Last humble advice from captain obvious, if you want to do one thing right that everybody in your field ended up doing *suboptimal*:
Please give weekly (or at least...

Re: [Brainstorm][Maybe the real one?] Maemo Community Device

Just share some my own thoughts and observations when using hardware keyboards.

1.
Having two function keys (f.e. Alt and some other) right near the Shift key (especially one above and one below)...

Re: [Brainstorm][Maybe the real one?] Maemo Community Device

That's what I thought, too. The arrow keys on the left make more sense as a D-pad for playing video games, arrow keys on the right resemble the layout on a computer keyboard. In the end, though, I...

Re: [Brainstorm][Maybe the real one?] Maemo Community Device

Sorry for my scepticism, but seems like you're underestimating the size of such project.

As for examples, you may look at Ubuntu Edge as failed crowdfunding.
You may also look for Pyra and...

Re: What's the best Handheld gnu/linux machine for 2016?

But why do this instead of just ordering a Pyra? I think it actually will ship in a few months. Why fragment our already lamentably small community into numerous sub projects, no one of which...

Re: "First True Linux x86 and x64 Tablet"

Well, I'll point out the parts that I disagree with if you don't mind. 8 hours of battery life isn't bad when you keep in mind that tablets are NOT a replacement for desktops. Also, you can always...

Re: What's the best Handheld gnu/linux machine for 2016?

If you have a desk, or at least some half-way comfortable place to sit down, then these might be an option.
But when I'm in such a situation I would rather use my laptop, which I'd have with me most...

Re: What's the best Handheld gnu/linux machine for 2016?

The thing that is saddening to me about this thread is that there is no good answer. Especially if you note the title is asking about best device in 2016. As far as I can tell there is nothing new...

Re: N900 vs. copier/scanner

Do the "dd" pichlo suggested and work with the image file that creates, not the MyDocs partition. I was too specific (and Linux-chauvinistic, I guess) above, there's a version of photorec for Windows...

Re: What's the best Handheld gnu/linux machine for 2016?

Well, if everyone has this attitude, none of us will get a Pyra, or neo900 or anything similar. We all come here to piss and moan about how there are no mobile devices designed for us nerds. I'm...
