The Galaxy Note seems to be weirdly the most appreciated Android handset over this forum. Never known why though, I guess it is just it's phoneblet phone factor.

if u want a 'phone' or similar like smartphone u can try gNote or N9, but replacing mobilecomputing is sooooo damn hard, n900 is the one and only, im using n9 for daily use, and n900 for freaky time,...

No, it is not okay to do so.

While flashing, the N900 has no power management at all, making it burn through battery. And I'm sure that power over USB is definitely not enough to keep phone...

It is very unlikely that N900 can be infected with viruses. Remember that N900 runs on an ARM architecture which is not the same as x86 that you have on desktops. It also comes with linux kernel...
