Re: Sad news; Nokia apparently killed Meltemi

By whom I wonder? So far, each and every Linux mobile handset has been handled with reckless abandon and rather poorly.

Re: Sad news; Nokia apparently killed Meltemi

I'm noone's fan, but how can you even hope there will be a mobile Linux distro in Nokia after killing Maemo, MeeGo and Meltemi, and saying that they will produce even cheaper WP devices? What's there...

Re: Sad news; Nokia apparently killed Meltemi

Probably because he/she likes his/her linux gadgets, and sees the choice of Nokia for Windows limiting the linux phone options in the future.

The problems Nokia has are numerous. They choose a...

Re: N9 PR1.3 by end of May'12

Oh, you can have that easily. Just remember to close your app before you open the next, just like WP7 does.

Re: Haven't received pr1.2 update... yet!!

WontFix is one of the answers, a maintainer can give if you report a bug. As you can see here (http://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/) Nokia quite often is not interested and will not fix those bugs (and...

Re: Do not use apt-get commands on N9 !

You can break any Linux installation with dist-upgrade. ;)
"apt-get update" and "apt-get install" are safe, though.

Re: Nokia N950 "coming soon" to stores?

Believe me, that keyboard would make you use the onscreen keyboard whenever possible. No comparison to the N900.

Re: lumia 800 vs nokia n9

Yes, it shows them exactly like you left them, including that time in the top bar. Those are only screenshots that mimic the look of multitasking.
Now if you go back to one, it either will resume...

Re: Nokia ends phone assembly in Europe

It's not even the workers costs alone, petty much all of Nokia's sub-contractors are in Asia, like every other manufacturer from Samsung, Apple, LG, SE etc etc.

It was matter of time.

Well...

Re: Nokia ends phone assembly in Europe

It's not so much the workers' salary, as the vast automated assembly and production lines the Chinese have set up all these years.

Noone can compete with them any more in speed and quality...

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

Whatever the real numbers are the fact remains that most of them are working on ever more inventive ways to cripple the dozens or so devices that Nokia makes, to create differentiation and market...

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

And you're quite mistaken my friend.

Let's keep numbers simple.

I once sold something for $1.00 in a 1 million lot - so 1 million dollars, and it cost me 50 cents to make each and advertise. ...

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

Jorma was already leaving - said so in 2010 when OPK was still CEO that he'd be leaving in 2012. Not sure about the rest though.

Re: NOKIA we need a new MAEMO5 device

Ossipena and I rarely agree on anything, but I can respect that. But his take on WP is from the direction of a person that's used it. Same with me. I've used it and found its simplicity - and...

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

Because having devs for one OS is straining enough financially. Quadruple R&D is not economically viable. Check few posts up, costs are HUGE

Re: Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles

guys, "revenue" != "profit", so either you were both using a misleading term, or you're basically saying nothing much (actually, 100M revenue is not a lot, smart device sales are probably around 8...

Re: WinPho: 2+3*4=??? Depends...

The portrait lumia calculator is a basic calculator. It does equations one step at a time. e.g 2 + 3 = 5, 5 x 4 = 20.

The scientific (landscape) calculator reads it as 2 + (3 * 4) = 14.

It...

Re: Nokia Q4 results are out. Lost $ 1.4 Billion. Now what Nokia will do ???

i hope you are kidding. Joining MeeGo was the biggest mistake Nokia did, should have stayed with Maemo.

Tizen is pretty much a joke.

Re: Symbian^3 Source Code and Bootleader has been Leaked

For those with half a clue on what the hell to do with this:

Symbian is loadable by u-boot.

BTW, Symbian is heavily modified per device. You can't just build this and run, unless this...

Re: Qt headed to WP ?

IMHO it doesn't really matter whether you can develop with Qt for WP or not.

As long as you cannot run your own software on your own phone without paying a yearly ransom to Microsoft, WP is not...
