Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

The price for USA is $370.

If you live out of EU & USA please don't ask now the price in your currency. Instead, wait to be approved and see the price yourself in the Forum Nokia purchase tool.

Re: Best development language for this idiot

Python is a great language to work with. There is sometimes a price to pay in efficiency, but it is a great way to create and learn. It's often rewarding to code in Python, not just because of the...

Re: Here's a general idea of just how badly we're getting screwed

Yes, of course they have bigger areas to cover. But in the US they have 300M people paying for the construction of the cell towers while in Finland we have 5M. It still boils down to population...

Re: Here's a general idea of just how badly we're getting screwed

Seeing as cellular service has a lot to do with the propagation distance of waves, I assume you could add a set of data to that and show that the less dense the population, the higher the nationwide...

Re: Price of N900 Crazy or just me?

Yep.

There are many items in this world sold at fair prices I won't pay. The rumored prices for the N900, if true, place it in those ranks. This doesn't mean the prices are unreasonable, it means...

Re: Is there official Nokia support and recognition of the work done?

In short - yes, you did miss those threads. There's a larger number of Nokians here. Usually qgil is the most visible, but also Peter@Maemo Marketing - I guess they speak on behalf of Nokia in these...

Re: Price of N900 Crazy or just me?

Thats another problem, unless they sell them from my carrier that wouldn't help me also I would also have to be able to upgrade my phone which would be almost 2 years for me since I just got a new...

Re: Are you buying the N900? (Quick poll)

I'll buy it if I can get a developer discount. It's just simply a cost issue for me... I really can't afford a big ticket item right now... but if I had the cash, it's a blind instant purchase for me.

Re: First N900 Review

I'm not sure that it looks any thicker than the N810s, no?

As for the availability without phone features and contract--that's the main point (#1) for me. I do NOT want to pay this obviously...

Re: Woot Watcher?

This is spiffy! Now if this should be made into a home applet that can auto-update whenever it's connected.. :)

Re: Touch Book, ARM netbook/tablet

I would be a bit reserved about reviews... Most people (and unfortunately a good deal of reviewers) know little about what this device actually is, or at least should be. I suspect many will think...

Re: Twitter Widget?

You don't need a Jaiku account, it can run as a Twitter-only app. In fact, the Jaiku support has been particularly frustrating for me. But I second TrueJournals on the thumbs-up for Mauku as a...

Re: change hardware id?

Careful - you also need to edit /etc/hosts and add an entry for the new name.
(at least that used to be required, after making that mistake once on my 770 I won't ever risk not doing it)

Re: Some hands on time with Nokia's Maemo 5 Development Device

I guess it's hard for us "normal people" to realize how far from "standard practice" the Maemo guys inside Nokia went for this developer session. From what I understand they took quite a risk, I...

Re: Some hands on time with Nokia's Maemo 5 Development Device

If I'd had to guess before someone told me I probably would have said it felt like 4" or so. If someone told me that it was actually the same size I probably would have believed them.

Finally I could catch up on this long thread (at the expense of my Danish sleeping time).

There was one post that got many thanks that started saying...
