Re: N900 daily Work in 2017?

Not sure if I'm not OT, but Pierogi is a good remote controller application for N900. Also, it is actively managed AND you can even ask the developer to implement a remote control(subject to...

Re: What's the best Handheld gnu/linux machine for 2016?

Even though I believe in the neo...and hope the best for the pyra...
they have YET to finish.

Saying what is the best handheld running linux should be aimed at actual finished functioning...

Re: [Announce] Orecchiette - an all-purpose audio recording app

Hey,
Have you been thinking about giving an option to record all phone calls or some type of them (outside the phone book, specified by name or some kind of this) ?
This will be great. I'm using...

Re: Idea: N900 security update (openssl, browser etc)

So I've been playing around with web browsers in Easy Debian (jessie). One option that I like is Midori (http://midori-browser.org/) which is available in jessie-backports. It passes all of the...

Re: For the Budget minded : The C.H.I.P. now is open for preorder Nov. 30th! woo-hoo!

Sounds cool and I went to order one right away but was stopped by the $69 price tag. For a toy I do not really need, at the time when I am still recovering financially from extravagant expenditure a...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

Not necessarily. Substituting x for "same as previous", 11111 can be transcoded as:

1,1,1,1,1
1,x,x,x,x
1,x,1,x,1

The same for a line of zeroes of course ;)

Although I personally fail...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

If I were to hazard a guess at their motivations, I'd suppose that they chose 3 symbols -- and those particular three -- instead of two to ensure that you'd never send the same symbol twice in a row....

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

B&O products are so annoying. Just try to use one. It is not only in the implementation details that they differ from everything else. Their engineers must all suffer from a serious case of NIH. My...

Re: [Announce] Pierogi - a universal infrared remote control app

OK, so I've just acquired my first N900... after having found Pierogi. :)

I like it and would like to use it to control all sorts of devices, one of which is my Beovision MX 7000 TV which Pierogi...

Arrow Newcomer!

Good afternoon,

I've bought a second-hand N900 two days ago as my beloved Nexus 5 died. I just found this device by coincidence: I was tired of Android and I wanted to change drastically (and no,...

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

I just tried, and although LXDE can in principle be usable at 480x288, most applications aren't.
But if you scale the desktop by divisor 2 (xrandr --scale 2x2), you get a desktop of 960x576, which...

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

Well, if it supports Debian, then we could run the same OS configuration on PocketCHIP and on N900.

But it's not only about the interface, gnome-shell is somehow similar to the Maemo interface. We...

Re: [Discussion] Rejuvenating Maemo with DebiaN900

Define "Maemo-like"!
There are multiple desktop environments that you can configure to work similar to Maemo's hildon and it seems like this device should be a lot faster than the N900.
So I think...

Re: Jolla Tablets on ebay

This just illustrates the differences among the needs of different people; for myself there is not that many GUI applications that I find useful. Almost all console tools however build out-of-the-box.

Re: Jolla Tablets on ebay

Actually a very large amount of all development on free software comes from the corporate world, see Red Hat, Intel, SUSE, Google, Samsung, etc.

Succinctly stated. And I agree 100%.

I'd actually say that it was Steve Jobs that was the one that perfected order. Apple now isn't all that orderly. The overlap of Apple MacBook Air (11/13...
