a)install leafpad
open terminal and enter:
root
leafpad /etc/evend.d/rcS-late (search for ext3 and replace with ext4)
reboot
slide keyboard and enter to recovery-console...

1* install backupmenu ,cssu-t , kernel-power , recovery-boot,
2*modify backupmenulauncher.item for ext4(search ext3 and replace with ext4 ,mkfs , fsck , etc, read before replace) , after...

If it pairs, then you can probably use it. The device seems to have a published Android API (Sony Add-on SDK) available, so just a bit of reverse engineering should do the trick.

How do you mean, exactly; "no way to pair"?
At first I thought it might be the Sony device is probably using bluetooth LE, but quick googling says it is BT 3.0 compatible.

n900 is never old nor is it fully broken. Its soon time for the yearly event *N900 WEEK*. Grab the device and join. Not sure if you get can fix it if you go for the geek toy neo900.
