it is quite usual. if you cannot mount it (mount /media/mmc1), the only way is to turn your n800 off and turn it on again.

Try turning the N800 off then taking them out and putting them back in and make sure you push them all the way in.

It'd probably be easier just to install Large Statusbar Clock (http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/statusbarclock) and be done with it.

Locking is planned for Fremantle (next full OS release) sometime in 2009.

As for selection - double click and drag.

It looks like something was corrupted and now the N800 needs to be flashed again.
You don't have to many apps installed so that would be a plus!
After flashing the device just add back your apps.
