OS 2007 HE is arguably the best OS for 770 - possibly not the most stable (but stability is very good) and it's more up to date than the last release of OS 2006.

I believe so - there is a security firm flogging 770s with metasploit and other security tools as a package for about $3500. I don't if they created their own builds or used/customised an existing...
