By luck, I came into (mentioned earlier, in this thread) instructions on how to use Easy Debian's Totem Player with hardware acceleration (gstreamer based) = side-attack on our goal to utilize DSP:...

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Note 2 is insanely fast. No problem in rooting and transferring apps through Titanium backup. Only nuisance, I had to cut my sim card into a microsim.
Why I am here, go try 'naked browser'....

Re: Porting rockbox to n900

Hey there,

The maemo port only handles incoming calls. The generic rockbox code can resume playback on finished calls.

I currently don't know why "SYS_CALL_HUNG_UP" is not handled, may be our...

Hmmm... Some of these specs don't seem so bad to me. 2GB RAM (will help with multitasking), 12MP Camera (I know you need to consider other factors besides MP but it could be helpful) Quad core CPU,...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

I ordered myself a cheap USB soundcard just for testing, so I gave this a try
I've tried this and it works for me without reboot. I have disabled the dsme lifeguard by creating a /etc/no_lg_reboots...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

So that does not mean a kernel panic, it could very well be a watchdog or DSME reboot.

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

Despite fact that Oblomow's idea/experiment is great "side-channel" attack on our current problem ;) and I'm very thankful for it, it's not exactly like that.

Standard output is unaffected there -...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

It did work for me when I tried to do RTP over-the-network redirection (the quality and latency were not good though, the details should be in the two years-old pulseaudio network thread). I do not...

Yes :) They separate the elements in a gstreamer pipeline. Looks strange, you're right.

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

Maemo is actually pretty much like desktop Linux regarding sound. There are only a few differences:
- PulseAudio runs in system mode
- PulseAudio is somewhat-patched and the protocol is partially...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

Another half-useful result of my experiments:

Looking at the code of the recaller widget, one sees that it is possible to use the output of a pulse sink (at least the internals) as a gstreamer...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

Interesting. so, 2 ways of doing what we want to achieve:

1. Make pulseaudio output to our external card (should be trivial, yet no one know how to do it up to date...)

2. Use mafw-gstreamer...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

So, I did a few experiments with gstreamer, but without much success. But maybe someone finds this useful, though.

First, one needs to install the gstreamer0.10-alsa package:

sudo apt-get...

Re: WIP: USB audio output - N900 as an "audiophile" portable music player

Note please there's a flaw with enter key in xterm on maemo: for some weird historical reasons the CR key is mapped to NK-ENTER. This is why things like less etc often don't work properly.
Get CSSU...
