My experience the other night with a friend who was trying an iTouch was that it had no speaker(s) for external music play or alerts(?) and I thought the screen was too small to be really practical...

FWIW software installation and updates on the tablets (for mainstream items) is point and click through Application Manager which is built in. (and not closed off too just Nokia repositories)

SDHC sizes: I think the limit is 16 gigs now, but my impression is that the sky is the limit, or more likely, your budget.
I don't think you really need more than at most two 4-gig sdhc cards, do...

I don't think the Touch will handle all of your requests. It is a closed system, on a smaller resolution screen. Music & Video playback should be superior, because of smaller resolution it doesn't...

I bought a N800 and two 8GB SDHC cards and an iGo Bluetooth keyboard for a total of less than $310.
The touch is a nice MP3 and video player, but unless you hack it to add other applications...

Agreed, have been toggling with the zoom controls to get a font size that I can read, and my eyes are pretty damn good.
I find the Touch has a pretty good battery life, compared to my n800.
