OmWeather is your solution for Weather widget. It works on OS2008 on N810 flawlessly with transparent backgrounds also. Pretty nice app.

theoredically it should have worked because in the mist of my adventures to find the answer i reflashed my device and installed maemo mapper just fine... so there's got to be something wrong with ur...

If you "upgraded it to OS2008" then you already did "flash" it. Flashing it is nothing more then re-writing the OS like you've done. Assuming you have the first final version of OS2008 on there...

Hello and welcome!
The darker right side is absolutely normal. All the N800 has that backlight peculiarity. Nothing to be worried about.
Regarding the sound, after I have upgraded mine I did'nt...
