Yeah.. Doesn't quite work the way danramos said... the command "hostname" only sets it for this session..

modifying the two files responsible as briand suggested sets it permanently.

Nope... Never solved this issue. I just decided to start using XMMS as my music player instead (it works in KDE also and is a better player as well) - I just love having that EQ. I do also have KDE...
