Re: Why Intel Atom?
What the f*ck are you talking about? First and foremost, UEFI is actually about interoperability, and most definitely not about "shutting out third party software". Plenty of the stuff it does...

Re: Jolla Tablet
I agree 100%. That's why I changed over 10 years ago from Windows to GNU/Linux. That's why my music is stored as OGG Vorbis instead of MP3 or other MPEG formats, my chat accounts are XMPP rather than...

Re: Darwin/ARM running on a Nokia N900
Well, I for one second Wikiwide's willingness to contribute money to get one (or more) of you an N900. Personally, I'd rather see people reversing N900 components so that we can get a purely-libre...

Riiiight. Like I want the phone company to get their tentacles into my device.
At least where I live, using 3G/4G for net access is outrageously expensive, if it even exists -- practically half...

Pyra - 2nd generation OpenPandora

just to let you know, some people from the OpenPandora community are in the process of designing a successor device called "Pyra". [1]
One of them is Nikolaus Schaller who's also...

Re: Jolla OtherHalf OLED display
I have done one project with kindle epaper display, and it did need lots of strange voltages, (e.g. +/-15) and somewhat complex interface, maybe easiest to have small processor to manage the drawing...

Re: Darwin/ARM running on a Nokia N900
I did make a nice keyboard driver this week. Getting an N900 might be really nice for development purposes. :)
Currently, I do debug in QEMU and I have other people test the kernels on their...

Re: Darwin/ARM running on a Nokia N900
The ARM bringup was done by a winocm (http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/1rchtp/ios_core_ported_to_nokia_n900_opens_door_to_ios/cdmkgf7).
Binaries compiled for iOS actually already do run...

Re: Darwin/ARM running on a Nokia N900
It's all open sauce (https://github.com/darwin-on-arm/).
A little birdie told me this only builds properly on Linux hosts (https://github.com/darwin-on-arm/xnu/blob/master/README) ('buntu 13.10...
