I don't know man. If you can flash the combined rom in step 1 without problems, step 2 should work. So think your memory is just more corrupted than mine was. I think the only way is to return it to...

No, the eMMC flash will take at least a minute or two. So I think you did something wrong, because it at least has to say something like "flash failed". Or your memory is even more corrupted than...

If that's the only command you used, then look down a little to Ima's post. You need to flash the eMMC image too.

It seems that you ar mixing Unix/Linux commands... $ and ./ are used with Unix/linux. You can try the following:
C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5>flasher-3.5.exe /?
- that shows the help...
