Re: read cellID from N900 using python?
I tried the change on the bus home, and made one more addition to that line:
if (device.fix[1] & location.GPS_DEVICE_LATLONG_SET) and (device.fix[1] & location.GPS_DEVICE_TIME_SET) and not...

Re: read cellID from N900 using python?
I also had this problem, it seems that the sample code does not check if the GPS fix is real.
I have changed the line before print lat long to this:
if (device.fix[1] &...

Re: Renaming "Maemo 6" to MeeGo / Harmattan
Can someone just tell them to re-run the naming schemes with the focus group again?
Are they REALLY ABSOLUTELY SURE that they wanna go with MeeGo for a whole line of premium products...??

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
By "Linux" I assume you mean libc, GNU utilities and toolchain, X11, QT/GTK, KDE/Gnome, udev, dcop/dbus, etc. Do you have any idea how much integration work goes into transforming a bunch of source...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
Again you're ignoring some very important things in ordrer to simplify. Debian systems share a lot in common with regard to *structure* of the OS to every other GNU/Linux out there *except* rpm...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
Absolutely untrue.
Maemo is a Debian derivative in the same way Ubuntu is. They are not bound by Debian policy, no.. but it is counterproductive and expensive to stray far from mainline.
Of...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
This is not entirely correct. In Maemo whenever there was a question about something that has not been defined by specific Maemo guidelines, Debian was almost invariably the fallback.
All the...

I don't mean to be offensive, but anyone here who doesn't understand why Debian + APT/dpkg is superior to Redhat/Fedora + yum + RPM, please stop commenting!

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
exactly. The package format is irrelevant!
However, the distribution is not. WinCE is not Windows7. IphoneOS is not OSX.
Fedora is not Debian. Yes, they are both GNU/Linux distributions but the...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
No argument at all. I think people are misunderstanding me... I think MeeGo is a good thing if it's truly completely open. No doubt. Doesn't mean I can't have my annoyances with the switch to an...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
My question I do you think "more developers" because you are under the (I think mistaken) impression that there are more rpm developers than deb ones?
Or do you think more developers meaning...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
This is what is funny, the pretense is that we're this big community, but the important things are rarely voted on by the real community. Maybe they will have a quick vote over on the Moblin site...

I found the tests useful. They help show which areas of the N900 should be protected with various screen protectors/cases, how it reacts to dust, and water - all things that happen in real life....
