OpenOffice will NOT drain your battery "real fast". It is slow to start (it takes one minute to open), and it can be slow doing other things, however, it is a full office suite on your N900.

QT is part of the programming as said before... they still need to be coded for the N900 - just like symbian QT apps.

Some easy commands to get basic info about the state of the device:

uptime

- tells how long the device is booted...

Yes, no, sort-of, maybe :)

It's not that simple. Essentially anything that runs on the N900 is a Linux program since it is a Linux computer. You certainly wouldn't be able to copy binary...
