my god. lol i was reading that wrong. i thought you meant do it in terminal on the device lol. yes i did it in cmd and it worked lol. dam so obvious why didn't i try that before lol

The ONLY time you need to know Linux is if you enable the development and testing software repositories.

If you stick with the default on the N900 (including enabling Extras) you should be safe...
