Tivoisation is part of it, but the kernel plays its part as well.

The old kernel is the hard requirement and as such you can't use new packages that require newer kernel features than is provided...

True. Though I think I have seen a signature describing how the person uses three N900 devices: one working without problems, another for experimenting, and third as backup in case of water damage.

Given the fact that in MeeGo repos there are only ARM compiled builds I find it hard to believe that Atom will power a Nokia phone , maybe it will be next year or when Intel produces a tablet...

I've never "needed" Ovi Suite for anything. At all. I never used it. There's nothing that it can do that on-device applications can't do. There's some things it can make easier, but it's sure as hell...
