You can use u-boot hush script instead loading directly uImage kernel. In script you can specify cmd options (like root device)

Mirakels had a very good idea: Instead of patching obexd to use "the old" signalling about PC Suite mode it would be better to make the N900 understand "the new" signalling from obexd upstream...

Not to add to the confusion, but it may be safer to add the tools repo instead of the sdk one.

from the command line:

$ sudo gainroot
# echo "deb http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/tools...

It is not advised to add this repository on the device, even if you know what you are doing,...
