Non-Qt apps can run in MeeGo just like they could in Maemo: by having developers maintaining the libraries these apps depend upon.

I am sure they can be run on MeeGo, but those apps might need some tweaks here and there to make them work.. one of them would be the packaging (from deb to rpm)..

when i run dmesg in xterminal i get a lot of ongoing data but nothing that seems like an error

Yes because it is still trying to install Titan's kernel. Do
apt-get purge kernel-maemo kernel-modules-maemo

Hmm, looks okay to me. Can you do apt-get update and apt-get upgrade on your console? Does it give any errors?
To find out what exactly what kernel to reinstall, do
apt-cache search...

Hmm, okay...post your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list here. It could be that some repos are missing from that. Alternately, just flash the kernel rather than wasting your time...

You will not make a complete flash by downloading the kernel to computer and using flasher-3.5 metod. You will just swap the kernel. It might not work either but is worth...

Ronaldo: been there also, try creating the directories and then running the commands
the installer is trying to remove modules from direcotries that aren't there (different kernel was installed)
