enable root access - go to settings in Filebox - "Enable root access (restart needed)", restart Filebox and you now have permissions.

Boot into NITDroid and use Astro File Manager (downloadable from Market) to install additional *.apk apps.

There's a "Thanks" button too you know.

Multiple *.apk's?

sudo gainroot
mv /path/to/files/*.apk /system/apps

Use the *. wildcard switch to allow copying of every file in the main directory that ends in .apk.

Look nitdroid-0.0.9 (Froyo) is the stable version right know. Look the instruction which i have posted earlier.Just remove the gingerbread and type nitdroid-0.0.9

I am giving you full instruction, Which will not need mmc:

1. Install root (apps manager )
2.Install leafpad (apps manager)
3.Download gingerbread for your n900 (google)

Nitdroid needs a 2Gb sd card to work so use that one. Froyo is suggested untill there is a more stable version of gingerbread. Nitdroid's speed depends on the class of the sd card. It should say it...

You don't need a microsd - I installed it and have it running without, mainly using that tutorial you linked to.

You need to have a MicroSD installed to be able to boot into Nitdroid even if you install it on the emmc. Follow this link (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66459) and follow it VERBATIM ok?

i don't know about mdictionary for the 5800, but MStarDict and QStarDict for Maemo work great with any dictionaries in StarDict format. Try them out and see how it goes. Converters exist to change...

the n900 will play many more video formats, with mplayer.
The n8 has better output quality via hdmi, and supports higher resolutions ( up to 720p ) and probably plays all formats you actually need....
