As a work around for Kainy, you could use NITDroid and CM9 for the time being?

I personally use PS3 Media Server (it's a general purpose DLNA server, don't worry) for DLNA streaming because it's just so damned easy to write up new configs for different devices.

There is also an excellent low latency desktop streamer called Splashtop too (both found in the app...
